Well, here it is, The Skeletal Press Newsletter. Until I can think of something cooler to call it.
So, who am I anyway? Glad you asked. My name is Ryan Cummins and I’m an indie comic book writer & creator from Michigan. You know, that state that looks suspiciously like the Hamburger Helper guy. I’ve created such comic books as the action-adventure series Rumble Kings, the cyberpunk revenge graphic novel FEVER, pulp-era superhero comic Century House, and the upcoming horror-fantasy comic Rayna: The Bastard Queen.
WHY SUBSTACK?
Glad you asked. Long answer short-ish? Consolidation. I’ve done it all over the course of my budding comics career promo-wise. The Facebooks, Twitters, Instagram (don’t get me started on that one, ugh), even my own website (which you can see here now skeletalpress.com) but the fact of the matter is that trying to keep up with promoting and updating everyone on half a dozen social media platforms is exhausting. Especially with my hectic schedule. (would you believe I work up to 84 hours a week at my day job AND have a bunch of kids?)
So this substack will now act as a conduit for all of the latest news about the goings-on with yours truly as well as a bunch of other nonsense I feel like burdening you all with. My biggest fault as a creator pre this substack was consistency. Getting out content on a regular schedule was like pulling teeth from a rattlesnake but now that I have a place to dump all of my news ONCE I am confident I’ll be able to spend more time creating great stuff for your eyeballs and earholes and less time trying to tell you about it.
Anyway, this substack is a place where I can share the entire process of my comics with you. You’ll get a never before seen look into how I break a story and get the script together, to concept art from some of indie comics’ best and brightest. You get to see covers, interior art, character designs, as well as exclusive previews of my upcoming projects.
Also, this substack will be home to the VERY much delayed Skeletal Press Podcast. A little piece of audio heaven for your earholes where I rant about everything from my comics, creator hangouts with some of my industry buds, as well as my rants and ravings on the latest comics, movies, pro-wrestling, and my love-hate relationship with just about any and everything under the sun.
Now, check out some art from my previous and current comic book projects!

Sick of me yet?
Yeah, I get that a lot. So let me leave you with this last little bit. The world is madness and so is making comics. My goal here is to bring you along for the ride as I navigate this crazy landscape in comics as I continue on in my artist journey. what that ends up looking like is anyone guess (millionaire playboy antics sure to ensue) but I can promise you this…you’ll get to see some cool shit along the way and we’re gonna have fun doing it!
Now go smash that subscribe button and let’s get this show on the road!
Until next time!
